Hour 1: Kyle Rowland

In Hour 1 of today’s Sports Rush, Brett is joined by Kyle Rowland, who does a fantastic job covering college sports for the Toledo Blade! Brett and Kyle discuss the current scandal that is taking up the majority of the talk surrounding Big Ten Football right now, that being the alleged large scale sign-stealing operation being run out of the Michigan Wolverines football program. Brett first asks Kyle to explain all the latest evidence and reporting in the story so we are up to date on the latest developments. We get Kyle’s thoughts on whether or not it was just the one member of Michigan staff acting solo or if this goes deeper, perhaps being asked to do this by higher up members of the program. Brett gets Kyle’s opinion on how serious this alleged operation by Michigan is, and what the punishment possibly could be, and what the punishment would IDEALLY be as well. Brett is of the opinion from his time in baseball that if your team’s sign can be stolen during a game, then it should probably be on the team or coach in order to make more complicated signs. But is the the long term retention of the stolen signs by the Michigan team for future use with plenty of time to study them making this a bit more malicious? We also hear about the level of outrage from other members of the Big Ten Conference that Kyle has reached out to for comment.
